Case study Worldwide Fruit

Worldwide Fruit & A-SAFE

When Worldwide Fruit was looking for an effective, low-maintenance alternative to the existing steel barriers at its warehouse facility, it turned to A-SAFE for a solution.

Customer

Worldwide Fruit is an international fruit marketing and distribution company. It works with around a thousand growers worldwide to help them ensure continuity of distribution 365 days a year.

Situation

Worldwide Fruit had already successfully trialled A-SAFE ForkGuard along walls and pedestrian routes. It had been impressed by the protection the product provided. Therefore, when the company was looking for alternatives to high-maintenance steel safety barriers – and the costs and downtime associated with repairing them – it turned to A-SAFE for help. At the customer’s request, an A-SAFE specialist visited the site to carry out a safety survey and propose a comprehensive solution.

Solution

Designated walkways were created using PAS 13 compliant traffic-strength rails and ergonomic handrails. These helped pedestrians to navigate safely around the facility, while also protecting them against vehicle collisions. Furthermore, inward opening swing gates were installed at crossing points to slow pedestrians and prompt them to stop and check for vehicles before stepping out onto active traffic routes.
